Girls To The Front (GTTF) is a South Wales-based Community Interest Company (CIC) on a mission to disrupt the status quo for young girls. Rooted in a DIY ethos, we create safe, co-produced spaces where girls aged 11–16 don’t just participate; they lead. You can see our full manifesto here.

We believe that for girls to thrive, they need to have a voice in a world that often tells them to shrink. Our work is built on three core VALUES: i) find your voice, ii) make space and, iii) be your own brand.

What is girls to the front?

A group of girls in a gym, some seated and others kneeling, receiving instructions from a woman standing at a table. The gym has workout equipment like rowing machines and pull-up bars in the background.

We move beyond traditional "adult-led" models to deliver authentic, rights-based engagement:

  • Inclusive Movement: We use functional fitness as a form of resistance. Through play-based sessions, girls experience their bodies as strong and capable, building physical confidence that translates into every area of their lives.

  • Creative Advocacy: From zine-making to digital content, we treat self-publishing as a superpower. We give girls the tools to share their own stories and challenge social norms without needing anyone else’s permission.

  • Knowledge-Sharing: We provide platforms for girls to co-create resources on topics that matter to them—from period positivity to tackling everyday misogyny.

Led by Dr. Mickey James, a specialist in children’s health and wellbeing, GTTF combines professional research expertise with a grassroots, no gatekeepers approach.

Whether you are an educator, a community leader, or a potential partner, we offer a distinctive, evidence-backed model that shifts girls from passive recipients to active creators and leaders. We are here to help the next generation have the space they deserve.
