Hi, I'm Mickey...
I'm the founder and Director of Girls To The Front (GTTF) CIC. I'm a research officer specialising in children’s health and wellbeing, I've spent most of my career focusing on the vital role of play and physical activity in young people's lives. I've been coaching for over 10 years across mentoring programs, sport and fitness before doubling down on what I do now. I want to help girls see how capable they are by rewriting the rules and breaking boundaries.
My work is defined by a commitment to co-production, youth advocacy, and empowerment. I want to bridge the gap between academic evidence and grassroots action. By founding GTTF, I have turned years of research into a movement that helps girls reclaim their agency, find their voices, and take up the space they deserve in their communities.

My expertise include:
-
Research-Led Practice: Using health and wellbeing data to address some of the biggest challenges in youth public heath.
-
Rights-Based Advocacy: Leading GTTF with a focus on the UNCRC, ensuring every girl’s right to be heard and to play is respected.
-
Creative Resistance: Championing DIY culture and self-publishing as tools for girls to challenge misogyny and navigate the world on their own terms.

I have a PhD which makes me a Dr (but not a useful one!). I'm also a dinosaur enthusiast with a love of loud music.
