Why movement?
Movement
As
Resistance
Get to Know Us
Girls To The Front intentionally frames physical activity as a form of resistance to social norms that limit a girl's confidence and presence. By taking part in functional fitness, girls experience their bodies as strong, capable, and worthy of space. This acts as a direct counter to a world that often encourages them to shrink or stay quiet.
Play-Based & Self-Directed
Traditional sports often rely on rigid, adult-led structures that can feel exclusionary. Our approach prioritises:
-
Co-Production: Every session is built on a "skeleton plan" that participants can adapt and amend to suit their own wants and needs.
-
No Fear of Judgement: By reframing fitness as play and expression, we reduce the barriers linked to performance pressure and the fear of getting things wrong.

The confidence built through movement doesn't stay in the session. It creates ripple effects that impact every area of a girl's life:

-
Reclaiming physical autonomy supports a stronger sense of self and overall mental health.
-
Learning that their voices and bodies have power encourages girls to speak up and lead in their schools and communities.
-
Empowering girls to move from being passive recipients of culture to active contributors who feel they belong in any spaces!
